Democratic Women's Club of Flagler County

The Democratic Women's Club Of Flagler County Brings Together Democratic Women Through Our Commitment To Progressive And Pro-Women Values. We Help Develop And Support Qualified Candidates For Political Office While Making A Difference In Our Community And At The Legislative Level.

About Our Club

We are a group of women in Flagler County, Florida working together to make things better for our Community.

The DWCF had it’s official beginning in 1956, though there had been individual Democratic women’s clubs in our state for many years. The organizational meeting for a state club took place at the Princess Martha Hotel in St. Petersburg on May 24, 1956 the day chosen by Eleanor Roosevelt as Democratic Women’s Day. We received our charter as a corporation in 1972 and in 1980 we joined the National Federation of Democratic Women. Under the leadership of its first President, Mrs. James Haley of Bradenton, The Democratic Women’s Club of Florida, Inc. now consists of nine regions, representing over 50 clubs.

Our local Flagler Club was founded in 1993 to pool the talent and resource of Democratic Women in Flagler County to build a strong political base. Its aim was to examine those issues that affect the lives of women locally, statewide, and nationally. Our values are based on the ideals and principles of the DWCF as reflected in its platform. Our Mission

What we want to come together and accomplish in our community.

Respond with Action

1. We will engage on matters affecting the Democratic process after a full research of the issue. We will not engage to counter simple rhetoric. 2. We will consistently contact our duly elected leaders on tough issues affecting our communities and the vulnerable. 3. We will partner with like-minded groups/organizations to move the Democratic agenda forward.

Learn and Educate

We are constantly striving to learn, educate ourselves and others through our dynamic speakers from in our Community and around the State.

Unify Our Voice

We know there are power in numbers, just look at the 2017 Womans March the drew a half-million people around the world! Unsurprisingly almost half of our club and board members were in attendance. As we move into 2022 it is going to be more important than ever to come together and win! A unified voice is a loud one and we are endeavored towards the betterment of our community, state and nation.

Engage Women

Opportunities for political, civic, and community engagement abound! Our members worked with the state DWC to launch a campaign focused on getting new to Flagler women to sign up for Vote by Mail, resulting in over 1000 new VBM sign-ups. During the election our members ran a texting campaign to “Get out the Vote”, reaching over 30,000 Democratic and Independent voters; helped with the Flagler Democrats road clean-up on Belle Terre, supported the Family Life Center, marched in local parades, and even baked cookies!

Garner Excitement

We strive to promote social justice through activism in our community, our state and our nation. Our diverse group of committed women participate, protest and work for positive change. We learn about proposed legislation and lobby our lawmakers, seek out strong Democratic candidates for local, state and federal office. We encourage you to explore our website to understand our dynamic and growing presence in our commuity. Join our Blue Wave!

Protest Support

The Democatic Women's Club of Flagler believes that Women's Rights are Human Rights. When those rights are threatened, the members of the Democratic Women's Club of Flagler County show up. Not only for Women's Rights but for social justice, environmental issues, LGTBQIA, stopping voter suppression, and more. Our local members have not only marched and protested here in Flagler, but all over Florida and the United States.

"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you."
